What Can I Expect From Multimedia Training?

When embarking upon a multimedia degree, you can expect to spend approximately 4 years of full time study to acquire your Bachelor of Science degree in multimedia technology. If you are pursuing your master’s level in multimedia training then you can add an additional 2 years and time for your dissertation or graduate project.

Defining Multimedia
As the name would indicate, multimedia is the presentation of information or entertainment through the use of several different media types. These can include sound, video, stationary images, text, and even sometimes smell or touch stimulation. Multimedia has 2 main branches. The first is known as linear. This type is presentation format. It begins and continues the same way through to the end each time. The second type is interactive. In this type the viewer plays a role in how the presentation will unfold and the presentation itself can be different each time it is viewed. Your multimedia training will cover both forms in-depth.

Coursework Involved in Multimedia Training
The first part of your multimedia training will be focused on the basics. You can also expect to get a broad angle view of the field. This is done to help you get a feel for the different venues within the multimedia tract and allow you to pick a focus. The largest part of your multimedia training will be in actual experience using the most commonly used computer tools. You will become an expert at developing vector graphics and vector animations. You will learn the different types of sound and graphic files inside and out. You will also discover which software and hardware tools best suit various tasks.

By the time you complete your multimedia training you will enter the work force able to conceive, create, and manipulate rich, multimedia presentations and applications.
